Why Rest Feels Uncomfortable Sometimes
Something I’ve noticed about myself
Sometimes I finally get time to rest…
And I still can’t fully relax.
My body slows down.
But my mind doesn’t.
Why I think this happens
I think a lot of people become so used to:
- stress
- pressure
- always doing something
…that slowing down starts to feel uncomfortable.
Almost unfamiliar.
You sit down to rest…
And suddenly your thoughts get louder.
The pressure to always be productive
There’s this feeling that if you’re not doing something useful…
you’re wasting time.
So even when you try to rest, part of your brain still feels guilty.
Like you should be doing more.
What I’m learning
Real rest isn’t just stopping physically.
It’s allowing your mind to slow down too.
And honestly…
That can take practice.
Something to think about
Do you actually struggle to rest…
Or do you just struggle to sit still with your thoughts?
Closing
Sometimes rest feels uncomfortable because your mind has been in survival mode for too long.
